Pastoral Care

The Pastoral Care Team of St James’s Winscombe and All Saints Sandford would always be pleased to hear of anyone (either yourself or someone you know) who would like to receive helpful contact and support.

Pastoral Care involves offering care, support and encouragement to others.  Reflecting the ministry of Jesus, it includes demonstrating unconditional love and acceptance, bringing hope, being present with and listening to people, journeying alongside people, especially during times of crisis, change and bereavement, building relationships and praying for those in our care.

Our Pastoral Team is a group of people who undertake all or some of the following:

•Visiting parishioners who are elderly, disabled, housebound, ill, recovering from illness or bereavement at home, in residential day-care centres or in hospital.
•Visiting those who are new to the church.
•Offering listening, conversation, support or prayer to those being visited.
•Making and maintaining telephone contact with identified individuals.
•Taking Home Communion to church members who have requested communion and who are unable to come to church services.
•Taking Services of the Word or Holy Communion with reserved sacrament at Care Homes.

All members of the Pastoral Team are DBS checked and have undergone training provided by the Diocese of Bath and Wells.

Please do contact us if you need us.
